Happening now: Hearing on Fani-kayode’s bail application commences
After spending two nights in prison custody, hearing on Femi Fani-Kayode’s bail application has commenced at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos.
A former Minister of Aviation, Fani-Kayode is standing trial, alongside two others over an alleged fraud of N4.9 billion.
The spokesperson for former President Goodluck Jonathan’s presidential campaign organisation for the 2015 election had been in EFCC custody for weeks before he was arraigned at the same court on Wednesday.
He, with the other accused persons, was slammed with a 17-count charge.
The court ruled that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody pending hearing on the bail application.
Fani-Kayode’s legal team is optimistic he would be granted bail.
