Global Communications Community prepares for World PR Day 2025
The global public relations and communications community is gearing up to celebrate World PR Day 2025 on July 16, an annual event that has seen remarkable growth since its inception in 2020.
This year’s observance, themed “Building Bridges & Navigating Polarisation,” aims to unite PR professionals, agencies, associations, and thought leaders from over 65 countries across six continents, emphasising the critical role of public relations in fostering understanding and trust in an increasingly complex world.
World PR Day has rapidly become a landmark occasion in the industry calendar, drawing significant participation. In 2024 alone, the event engaged over 18,000 professionals, 157 agencies, and 25 associations. Each year, it serves as a vital platform for the industry to reflect on its impact, discuss emerging challenges, and chart a course for the future of global communications.
Ayẹni Adékúnlé, the visionary convener of World PR Day, highlighted the core mission behind the initiative. “World PR Day was created to educate the public and business community on the value of PR and its benefits to democracy and society,” Adékúnlé remarked.

“Our goal is to set the agenda for the industry, celebrate our achievements, and chart a path for the future. The global participation and recognition we have seen so far are truly humbling.”
Since 2021, World PR Day has consistently delivered a dynamic mix of physical and virtual events, including summits, conferences, and celebrations, demonstrating year-on-year growth in both reach and impact.
These activities underscore the profession’s unwavering commitment to ethical practice, innovation, and building trust amidst an era of unprecedented change and rapid technological, social, and economic transformation.
While the official theme and comprehensive details of global celebration activities for World PR Day 2025 were formally announced on June 16, 2025, the enthusiasm is already palpable. Early events and preparatory activities are already underway in countries like Nigeria and Ghana, signalling widespread engagement for this year’s observance.
World PR Day 2025 will feature a diverse array of activities designed to foster dialogue and advance ethical communication practices. These include scheduled editorials, vibrant social media conversations, formal events, global recognitions, insightful seminars, engaging debates, and practical workshops. All these initiatives are geared towards highlighting the transformative power of effective communication in addressing societal divisions.
