Funke Akindele, JJC Skillz sentenced to 14 days community service, Naira Marley arrested

Nollywood Actress, Funke Akindele and her husband, AbdulRasheed Bello aka JJC Skillz, have been sentenced to 14 days community service and fined N100,000 each for violating the directive of the Lagos State government on large gatherings as part of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The couple was arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ogba on Monday and pleaded guilty to the one-count charge after hosting a birthday party at their home in Amen Estate, Lagos which had more than 20 guests in attendance.

According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana, the Court found the couple guilty as charged and sentenced them as follows:

“They are to pay a fine of 100,000 each, sentenced to 14 days community service, three hours per day, excluding Saturday and Sunday. Each Defender shall visit 10 important public places within Lagos State to educate the public on the consequences of non-compliance with the restriction order.

“They must submit the names and phone numbers of every person who attended the party. They shall be placed on isolation by the State government to determine their COVID-19 status. Failure to abide by the above directives shall attract more severe punishments.”

Elkana added that singer Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley who was also at the party is now in Police custody and will also be charged to Court for violating the restriction orders.

“The Command has launched a manhunt for the remaining persons who attended the party,” Elkana added.
