French Tram Crash: Injury Count Swells to 68

68 persons have now been confirmed injured in a tram collision that occurred in Strasbourg on Saturday.

French authorities confirmed this on Sunday.

This comes after a tram hit a static tram at the underground stop of Strasbourg’s main train station.

Following the collision, the tram then surprisingly began moving backwards down a slope leading to the station.

Neusrom understand that dozens of passengers were on each tram.

The prefecture made an update to the injured list, revealing 68 affected while 100 were spared.

The initial injury toll was given as 50, as stated by the Director of the Bas-Rhin Fire and rescue service, Rene Cellier.

“Most injuries were trauma-related,” Cellier stated.

Meanwhile, Acting public prosecutor, Alexandre Chevrier, assured that “an initial investigation has ruled out any intentional act.”

The two drivers have been confirmed to have avoided any severe damage, although, train services at the station have been suspended temporarily.
