Four NDLEA officials gruesomely murdered at checkpoint in Ondo

Four operatives of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) were gruesomely shot dead by unknown gunmen while carrying out their duties at a checkpoint near Ifon area on Owo/Benin City Road Sunday evening.

Reports say three gunmen arrived the checkpoint on a motorcycle, having concealed their weapons under their clothes.

They immediately opened fire on five NDLEA officials at the scene. Only one out of the operatives managed to escape, while the gunmen proceeded to set their vehicle ablaze.

The criminals escaped the scene.

The hoodlums also razed the operatives’ vehicle.

NDLEA Commander in Ondo state, Haruna Gagara, said operatives of the agency and other security operatives were in the hunt for the culprits.

“The killers were two on a motorcycle and hid their AK-47 rifles under their clothes. Immediately our men stopped them at the checkpoint, they opened fire on four of them, while the fifth person escaped,” Gagara said.

“We, in collaboration with other sister security agencies, have begun to trail the killers.”
