NDLEA Arrests Babalawo Over Drug Trafficking
The traditional chief priest aka Babalawo of the Igunuko shrine, Alpha Beach Ajah Lekki area of Lagos has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for drug trafficking.
The Agency revealed that 2,760kg of the cannabis variant, skunk, was recovered on 25th October 2024 during a raid there.
The Priest in question was identified as Bariu Aliu also known as Malo.

The raid last year led to the arrest of two of Malo’s accomplices both of whom have been charged and convicted in court.
The agency says its investigations uncovered Malo as the ringleader of the crime organization.
His arrest comes 3months after an intense search for him by the NDLEA.
Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised the operatives in Lagos and Kano commands for their efforts at crippling illegal drug supply and distribution in Nigeria.
