“Florida school shooter a mentally disturbed individual” – Donald Trump downplays calls for gun control
United States President Donald Trump has taken to his favorite platform to condemn the Florida school shooting that occurred Wednesday night.
The shooting, by a 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, had left no fewer than 17 persons dead.
The shooting has again sparked the hotly contested debate about America’s gun control, but Trump is preferring to blame the incident on a “mentally disturbed” Cruz.
“So many signs that the Florida shooter was mentally disturbed, even expelled from school for bad and erratic behavior,” Trump said in a tweet Thursday afternoon.
“Neighbors and classmates knew he was a big problem. Must always report such instances to authorities, again and again!”
He, however, insinuated that a solution to the gun menace in America is being agreed upon by the Congress.
He tweeted: “While the Republicans and Democrats in Congress are working hard to come up with a solution to DACA, they should be strongly considering a system of Merit Based Immigration so that we will have the people ready, willing and able to help all of those companies moving into the USA!”
Cruz’s gun assault on staff and students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida is one of America’s deadliest mass shootings in modern history.
