The flood disaster that has ravaged several communities in different states across the country has led to the death of over 30 persons in Kano State.

At least 15 local government areas in the state have been affected by the flood, Alhaji Ali Bashir, the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Agency disclosed.

Bashir told NAN on Monday that no fewer than 10,000 houses have been wrecked by the flood. He puts the estimate of properties lost at over N5 billion.

“Thirty one people lost their lives and more than 10,000 houses that are estimated at over N5 billion were affected,” he is quoted to have said.

“Most of the affected houses were either totally or partially destroyed,” the Executive Secretary said.

According to Bashir, farmlands have not been spared. Over 35,000 farmers have lost their farmlands to the water.
