Fire engulfs Obafemi Martins’ Chinese club stadium
The stadium of the Chinese club Obafemi Martins plays for was, on Tuesday, engulfed by a fire outbreak.
A part of Martins’ Shanghai Shenhua football club’s stadium was damaged in the fire incident.
According to reports, the fire broke out at the Hongkou Stadium early Tuesday and was extinguished by mid-morning.
The fire was prevented from spreading to the other parts of the stadium. Neither the stands nor the pitch was affected.
Argentinian striker, Carlos Tevez also plies his trade at the Chinese club.
“The next game at the 33,000-capacity stadium on April 16 against Changchun Yatai will be subject to fire authority inspections,” sports portal, Sohu, quoted a Chinese Super League official as saying.
