FG declares work-free day ahead of crucial election
A work-free day has been declared by the Federal Government in preparation for Saturday’s crucial poll.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Interior Wednesday night.
Interior Minister Abdulrahman Dambazau said the work-free day is to enable citizens have ease of movement to their respective polling units before the election.
“Federal Government declares Friday 22, February 2019 as work-free day. Those providing essential duties and bankers are excluded,” Dambazau said in a statement.
“The work-free day is to enable citizens return to their poling units for the reschedule Presidential & National Assembly elections.
“Security agencies have been directed to ensure safety of lives & property before, during & after the general election.”
The poll is expected to kick off at all polling units by 9a.m Saturday.
