Father rapes 6-year-old child in Niger, blames wife for “traveling a lot”
A man has blamed the absence of his wife as the reason he decided to have carnal knowledge of his six-year-old daughter.
30-year-old Basiru Audu allegedly sexually abused the child at his London Street, Minna residence.
The neighbours were said to have noticed the child walked awkwardly and interrogated her. She accused her father of putting “something in her private part”.
Audu’s wife, Northern City News reports, had been away to their home town, Daura, Katsina State when he allegedly committed the act on June 16.
The suspect told reporters that he blamed his wife for travelling a lot, thereby not satisfying his sexual needs.
“I blame my wife for not being around when I needed sex, she travels a lot and that was why I had to sleep with my daughter; what a shameful thing,” Audu is quoted as saying.
“That night, I was having a burning sensation to have sex and since my wife was not around, I had no option but to sleep with my daughter to ease off tension.”
Police spokesperson in Niger State, Muhammad Abubakar, said the suspect had confessed to the crime and regretted his action.
