Father claims he was sleeping with 15-year-old daughter because he wanted more children
One Michael Igbaniba has been arrested by police in Lagos for allegedly sleeping with his 15-year old daughter in New Oko-Oba, Abule-Egba.
Reports say Michael, 35, had his daughter out of wedlock when he was 20-years old. He was alleged to have been sleeping her for up to two years and had aborted a baby for him.
The girl, a JSS2 student, reported her father to a police division in Agege.
She said he had threatened to stop paying her fees if she revealed that he was sleeping with her.
“I reluctantly allowed him because of my love for education until I could not bear it anymore and also because I was ashamed to reveal it to anybody because he is my father,” he said.
Michael was said to have confessed to the crime, with claims that he was desperate for another child. He said his friends had advised him to begin sleeping with her in order for his new wife to get pregnant.
“By the time she came to live with us, my wife did not get pregnant. The same friends advised I slept with my daughter that my wife would get pregnant in the process,” he said.
Police say investigations have begun and Michael would be charged to court if found guilty.
