“Fake doctor” transfuses HIV-infected blood into boy, 6, in Nasarawa

An alleged fake medical doctor has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps for allegedly infecting a six-year-old boy with HIV.

The doctor, Jonathan Sidi-Ibrahim, allegedly transfused the unscreened blood into the boy, Emmanuel Alaku’s body at his unregistered clinic in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa state.

The incident was confirmed by the commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Lawal Bashir-Kano, on Thursday.

“The suspect was arrested for operating an unregistered, illegal clinic known as Abrason Destiny Clinic,” the commandant said.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, in 2015, transfused unscreened and infected blood into an unsuspecting patient and in the process caused the patient to be infected with HIV.”

The suspect, on his part, confessed that he transfused the unscreened blood with unsterilised equipment.
