FA Cup Final - Kelechi Iheanacho

The final of the 2020/2021 Emirates FA Cup holds today, Saturday May 15, 2021, in Wembley and we’ve compiled a list of all you need to know ahead of the game.

1This is Leicester’s first FA Cup final in over three decades: Leicester won the Premier League in 2016 in what is regarded as sports’ most unbelievable and most inspiring story ever. However, in the FA Cup, they’ve not been able to make the final in over three decades. This will be their first, and they’ll be looking to win it for their fans.

2At least two Nigerians will be participating in this year’s final– You can call them Batman and Robin or Senior man and Willy, the duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho have been entertaining their fans on social media with their witty content. Still, both mainstay players in the Super Eagles squad have been instrumental to the Foxes campaign this season. Brendan Rodgers will have no justification not to start both Nigerians based on their blistering form.

3The game will be won and lost in the midfield– Both Chelsea and Leicester are very midfield driven teams, Chelsea’s trio of Kante, Jorginho, and Mount have propelled Chelsea to their second Champions League final and also a consecutive FA Cup final appearances in two seasons, while Leicester’s trio of Ndidi, Teilemans and Maddison are also one of the best in the league providing for their fast attackers. The team that commands the midfield on Saturday is likely to come out tops. Grab your popcorn,  it’s going to be an interesting battle.

4Difficult road to the final for both teams- They say if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best; both Chelsea and Leicester have had it tough this season en route to the final. Chelsea has played Morecambe, Luton, Barnsley, Sheffield, and Manchester City, and they’ve prevailed in all while Leicester played Stoke, Brentford, Brighton, Manchester United, and Southampton. Leicester seems to have taken the more difficult route to the final than Chelsea, which suggests that they will be ready for everything Tuchel’s men throw at them on Saturday.
