Eunice Olawale Elisha, the 42-year-old woman killed while preaching in Abuja, has been laid to rest.

Her 72-year-old father, Pa Ayodele Akun, has been ill for over two months. Her family feared he might die if he learns of his daughter’s death. So they delayed telling him.

By the time Eunice was buried on July 23, Pa Akun thought her daughter was alive. The family said they “lacked the courage” to tell Baba.

The family has finally broken the news to the old man. And, as expected, he’s devastated.

News of Eunice’s death would be too great a shock Pa Ayodele Akun, the family says.

“My father is in pain,” Eunice’s cousin, Apata Emmanuel wrote on Facebook after the family broke the news to Pa Akun.

“I sincerely solicit for your prayers for Baba Akun the father of of my late sister Eunice Mojisola Olawale. He hasn’t come out of the shock after the news of the death of his beloved daughter was broken to him today (Wednesday) in his house Itawure Efon Alaaye Ekiti.

“He will be taken back to Lagos tomorrow for medical attention,” Apata said.

When Eunice’s mother was told of the tragic death earlier, she took ill and was hospitalised at the General Hospital in Ilawe-Ekiti.

She had since been discharged.

“The agony of a mother,” Apata wrote about Eunice’s mother’s reaction to the tragedy.

“Mummy Elisabeth Akun said ‘I prayed enough but if God can still allow this to happen to me I know His grace will be sufficient for me’.”
