“Disgusting Abomination”: Elon Musk Slams Trump-Backed $3.8 Trillion Spending Bill
Elon Musk has blasted a Trump-endorsed tax and spending package as a “disgusting abomination” — and igniting fresh fractures within the Republican Party.
“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore,” Musk wrote on X, his social media platform. “This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.”
The billionaire directly rebuked lawmakers who supported the package, saying, “Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”

The bill, dubbed the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” narrowly passed the House last month by a single vote. It proposes to extend Trump’s hallmark 2017 tax cuts while jacking up spending on the military and border security — a political formula designed to galvanize the GOP base ahead of November, but one that risks widening the federal deficit by a staggering $3.8 trillion, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
Musk’s rebuke echoed concerns already brewing among Republican deficit hawks in the Senate, several of whom expressed support for his stance. The tension now threatens to derail or reshape the bill’s trajectory as it heads to the upper chamber for revisions.
With national debt sitting at $36.2 trillion, Musk’s intervention may have handed reluctant senators the political cover to demand changes — or blow it up altogether.
