Elon Musk is not taking over my presidency – Trump Voices Out
President-elect Donald Trump has firmly rejected speculation that tech mogul Elon Musk is the true power behind his incoming administration. Speaking to supporters in Arizona, Trump dismissed the idea as a “hoax” perpetuated by political opponents while praising Musk for his innovative spirit.
“And no, he’s not taking the presidency,” He declared with a characteristic mix of humor and defiance. “You know why he can’t be president? He wasn’t born in this country.”
The comments come amid growing scrutiny of Musk’s role in Trump’s orbit. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO recently made headlines for his active involvement in reshaping a controversial congressional budget bill, which was renegotiated following opposition from both Trump and Musk.
Musk’s intervention in the budget debate has sparked concern across the political spectrum. Democrats and even some Republicans have questioned the extent of his influence, especially given his $200 million contribution to a Trump-aligned Political Action Committee during the campaign.

Adding fuel to the fire, He announced that Musk would chair the proposed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a panel designed to streamline federal spending.
Critics point to Musk’s ability to sway major decisions, such as the removal of a budget provision that could have restricted his business operations in China. House Democrats, including Representative Rosa DeLauro, accused Republicans of catering to an unelected billionaire.
“Let’s be clear: this is about power, not efficiency,” DeLauro said. “Elon Musk isn’t just advising the administration; he’s steering it.”
Musk’s global presence has only heightened concerns. He has been involved in high-level discussions with foreign leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron. His influence has also made waves on social media, where Musk’s platform, X (formerly Twitter), has become a battleground for political discourse.

Despite the criticism, many Republicans have embraced Musk’s involvement. Senator Bill Hagerty defended Musk, acknowledging his contributions while insisting that Trump remains firmly in charge.
“Elon Musk is a problem-solver,” Hagerty said. “But make no mistake—Donald Trump calls the shots.”
Representative Tony Gonzales likened Musk’s role to that of a “prime minister,” praising his ability to get things done. Meanwhile, Trump allies argue that Musk’s expertise in business and technology will be an asset to the administration.
