El-Rufai: “I said ‘go and jump,’ NOT ‘go and die’”… What’s the difference?
By admitting he did say “go and jump,” Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai may have proved the “go and die” headliners right.
Okay, here’s the story.
Zainab Ahmed is a foster sister to El-Rufai, many believe. She is President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial nominee for Kaduna State.
Critics accused El-Rufai of nepotism. They said he pushed the nomination of his foster sister as minister.
El-Rufai was addressing stakeholders during a town hall meeting last Saturday when he was reportedly responded:
If you are not happy with appointments made, you can go and climb Kufena mountain, fall and die. It was what you voted for that you got, because we are aware that there are people who did not vote for us, in fact, they worked against us. But now they claim to be APC members and loyal to the party. We know such people. And so there is no way they would expect anything from us.
This Tuesday, the governor attempted clearing the air but unwittingly admitted to what the “go and die” headliners insinuated.
El-Rufai said he never said his critics should “go and die.”
Here’s what his media aide Samuel Aruwan said the governor said:
All of us in the Kaduna State government have sworn with the Quran; Christians with the holy bible, to do justice and we will do justice. We better stand and tell ourselves the truth. Everyone knows the truth. No matter the noise, the truth is constant. And as I stand here, no matter who you are, I will face you and tell you the truth. If you don’t want to hear the truth, you can climb Kufena Hills and jump.
Okay, so El-Rufai never used the word “die.”
What will happen to anyone who climbs Kufena Hills and jumps without a parachute?
Yeah, it’s better imagined than experienced.
