DayStar gives free school packs to over 5,000 students
This post has been updated.
Showers of blessings pour from the “heavens” into the academic lives of thousands of Nigerian students on Saturday.
It rained, in the actual sense of it. But that didn’t stop at least 5,000 school boys and girls from trooping to DayStar Christian Center in Lagos.

The church, led by Pastor Sam Adeyemi, handed out free back to school packs to as many as were present. Books, bags, stationery, and several things in-between…all free.
“Filled auditorium with increasing massive crowd outside,” the church tweeted moments after the event began. “God has provided enough to go round.”
“Our hearts are filled with compassion as several thousands of people keep trooping in,” the church said.
Here’s why the church organised the giveaway.
#DaystarBackToSchool is aimed at equipping less privileged students with educational materials to help maximize their academic experience.

Correction: We errornously stated in an earlier version of this post that over 15,000 students were catered for. The church says it’s 5,000.
