#Owerri112: Court sets IPOB women protesters free unconditionally
August 24, 2018
The IPOB women protesters have been set free by the high court in Owerri on Friday.
The women, numbering about 112, had been arrested and arraigned in court for staging a protest demanding the whereabouts of self-styled Biafra agitators’ leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
The court was said to have granted the bail application filed by the women’s counsel, Ejiofor Uche and they were freed unconditionally.
Police prosecutor, Theaddus Okay told Punch that the police had no representation because the matter had been referred to the state ministry of justice for legal counsel and decision.
There had been a hashtag campaign on Twitter calling for the release of the women since their last arraignment in court.
