Court arraigns suspect for raping, killing 20-year-old model girlfriend in Ondo
The case of the 20-year-old model that was allegedly raped and stabbed to death by her boyfriend was heard at the court in Akure, Ondo State on Monday.
Oluwaseun Ajila was killed on October 4. Accusing fingers have been pointed to Ebenezer Adejumola, her boyfriend of eight months, whom her mother said had called her on the day of the incident.
Ebenezer had allegedly been pestering the deceased, reportedly a virgin, for sex since they began dating in January. Oluwaseun’s mother was said to have once intervened in the dispute that arose from the young couple’s disagreement on sexual matters.
The suspect had also denied his girlfriend’s suspicion that he was involved in internet fraud. They were said to have separated briefly, but patched things up later.
The victim’s mother’s suspicion on the identity of her daughter’s killer was backed by calls she received from Ebenezer on the fateful day asking her where she was.
The court, during Ebenezer’s arraignment, heard that he killed “Oluwaseun by strangulating and stabbing her with kitchen knife which resulted in her death.”
The second count read that he, “on same date, did rape Oluwaseun.”
The court adjourned proceedings to January 22, 2018, pending the advise by the Department of Public Prosecution, and ordered that the suspect be remanded at the Olukuta Medium Prison.
