Content Creator Goes Home With More Than N7m at MTN Digital Content Conference 2018
The digital age has changed our lives tremendously. Um, wait, let’s rephrase that. The digital age has turned our lives inside out and we will never go back! Ever!
Going digital has changed our thought patterns and the way we live. It has defined a generation by giving each person the ability to become a superstar, to build a million dollar business from a couch in a living room somewhere in Surulere or Kubwa. We get to be more creative than ever. We get to share with the world at the snap of a finger. We get to do a whole lot!
So, with all the amazingness the digital age has brought us, MTN hosted content creators to a Dinner and Awards night on Tuesday, 6th of November 2018 at the prestigious Oriental Hotel in Lagos.
You are thinking ‘dinner and awards night are boring affairs’. Nooooooooo! This was everything, and so much more. Super fun activities (Yup, the word ‘super’ is needed o) accompanied the maiden edition of the Digital Content Conference. We loved how the 360-degree camera made us look like a billion… lol
Okay, we have to focus, even when we are dying to give you guys a download of the juicy gist from the event (the food, the celebrity performances and gossips ehn).
But there is one bit of gist we totally have to share with you – the lowdown on the guy who left the room with over 7 million Naira!
That night, this young man kept on standing to go to the stage almost every 20 minutes to either receive an award or a cheque. Who is this guy? ‘3SixtyWorld’ is what he calls himself.
For a while, 3SixtyWorld had been dropping his creative works on the MTN Shortz platform and a lot of people liked his stuff. Well, for all his hard work, it was about time he shone bright like a diamond; and shine he did at the DCC.
It was quite a sight to watch him walk back and forth from the stage. He really should had just grabbed a seat beside the stage. He received his first award for the night, a plaque and a cheque for a whopping sum of 3.5 million Naira.
A few minutes later, he was called up to receive the award for Best Local Content which was worth 2.2 million Naira. A couple of minutes later, he won the award for the Most Trending Channel on Social Media, which also fetched him 1.450 million Naira. In total, he won a jaw-dropping 7.150 million Naira. Let’s spell that out, that is Seven Million, One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira during the awards night. Who wins that?! In one night?! How?!
Thanks to MTN, we get to see a man’s heart gladden with joy at seeing his work faithfully rewarded. Content creators now have the opportunity to turn their creativity into cash bags and we get to dream of what we can do with seven million Naira.
3SixtyWorld was not the only content creator that was rewarded though as Arial View pipped him to the award of Best Engaged and Responsive Content Provider which comes with a a 3.5 million Naira cash prize.
