Child Abuse: Stepmom arrested for maltreating 4-year-old stepdaughter in Ogun

An alleged act of child abuse has led to the arrest of a stepmother after she inflicted injuries on her four-year-old stepdaughter.

Stephanie Dikeocha’s teachers reported her alleged constant abuse at the hands of Jennifer Dikeocha to the police.

Police spokesperson in Ogun, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said Stephanie’s teachers at Royal Peters International Academy, Mowe, noticed she was always reluctant to return home after school.

“The teacher complained that she has been noticing the reluctance of the girl to go home after closing and that the girl was in the habit of crying whenever it was time for her to go home,” Oyeyemi said.

“She further explained that she discovered that the girl came to the school that morning looking very sick and when she tried to feel her body temperature, the girl shouted in pain which prompted her to check her body and found lacerations all over her.”

Jennifer was arrested afterwards.

Police say the suspect revealed she had been married to Stephanie’s father in 2016, after her mother died during childbirth.

She allegedly didn’t give concrete reasons for her maltreatment of the little girl.
