“Chibok girls will take years to rescue, just as it took years to capture Osama” – Minister of Defence

The rescue of the remaining 195 Chibok girls in Boko Haram captivity will take years to achieve, this according to Minister of Defence, Brig. Gen. Munir Dan-Ali.

Dan-Ali reportedly said in an interview with the Hausa Service of the Voice of America on Tuesday that the military was intensifying efforts to free the girls.

He was said to have compared the length of time it took America to capture notorious terrorist, Osama Bin Laden, to that of the girls.

“It took America eight up to 10years before it found Osama Bin Laden,” he reportedly said.

Parents of the girls, however, expressed their disappointment in President Buhari, as they were denied entry into the Villa on Tuesday.

They vowed to continue to march on the Presidential Villa every day until they are granted audience.

The aggrieved parents lamented that the Federal Government fails to empathise with them on their plight.

“We are very sorry for giving Mr. President our votes. We voted Mr. President hoping he would rescue our daughters but we have become his enemies,” one of the parents whose two daughters remain in captivity, Rev. Enoch Mark, said.

“Why can’t the president communicate with us, are we not Nigerians? Is that good for a president; a leader, to show such attitude. We believe the president is against the Chibok Community.”

It has been three years since Boko Haram terrorists abducted 276 school girls from a secondary school in Chibok on April 14, 2014. 195 girls remain in captivity.
