The Central Bank of Nigeria has dismissed reports that its headquarters in Abuja went up in flames Tuesday evening.
Authorities at the bank have blamed the fire scare on the exhaust from a faulty generator.
CBN, in reaction to reports of fire incident, said its security system which triggers safety alarms discovered that the smoke was an unusual pall of exhaust from the generator house.
“The affected generator has been rested and normal work has been uninterrupted, while the engineers are working to rectify the issues with the generator,” the bank’s Corporate Communications Acting Director, Isaac Okoroafor, said in a statement.
Okoroafor assured the public that there has been no fire at the building.
