Buhari pledges to pay visually impaired corps member’s medical bills
President Muhammadu Buhari has offered to pay the medical bill of visually-impaired National Youth Service Corps member, Okenala Ahmed.
Ahmed, 28, is currently serving in Buhari’s hometown in Daura, Katsina State.
President’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu said on Wednesday that Buhari made the commitment when Ahmed and his colleagues visited him during the sallah celebration on Tuesday.
Ahmed studied Insurance at the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State and his plight was brought to Buhari’s notice during his meeting with the members.
“In the course of the President’s interaction with the corps members, the Corps Liaison Officer, Jibrin Ishak, appealed for assistance for their physically-challenged member,” the statement read.
“According to the CLO, the indigent corps member, who is from Offa, Kwara State, had earlier contemplated redeployment from Katsina State due to his health condition.
“President Buhari will undertake the cost of medical care and treatment of Ahmed, who is an NYSC Economics teacher at the Government Day Senior Secondary School, Daura.”
