Benue: Widow loses N2.9million to ponzi scheme, demands refund

Several victims of a ponzi scheme stormed the police station in Benue to express their grievances about being duped by one Philemon Ibrahim, a top guider of Global Funds International.

A widow, identified as Mrs Dauda Maiduguri, said she had been defrauded of N2.9 million by Ibrahim.

Other aggrieved investors narrated to Channels TV how they lost huge sums of money to the suspect, who had been arrested by the police.

The Benue State Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, accused the protesters of greed and warned Nigerians against investing in such dubious “get rich quick” schemes.

Makama said there was little the police could do to make Ibrahim refund the participants’ monies, other than charging him to court.
