APC’s David Lyon Declared Winner of Bayelsa Governorship Election
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Chief David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the concluded Bayelsa governorship election.
Lyon was announced the governor-elect of the state after scoring a total number of 352,552 votes. He was followed behind by his main rival, Sen. Duoye Diri of the PDP who garnered only 143,172 votes.
No other party apart from the PDP has been in power in Bayelsa since 1999. There are strong indications that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), will challenge the result at the tribunal.
APC’s flag-bearer, President Buhari has since congratulated Lyon on his victory.
