Anthony Joshua Banned by British Boxing Board
The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) has slapped a ban on British boxer, Anthony Joshua, after his shock loss to fellow Brit, to Daniel Dubois, on Saturday, September 21.
Joshua suffered a knockout loss to Dubois in front of thousands of watching fans at Wembley Stadium, London.
The former two-time heavyweight champion will now face a 28-day boxing suspension as a result.
The Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports (ABCCS) has made it compulsory that fighters who suffer knockout (KO) or technical knockout (TKO) losses must be banned from engaging in the sport for the said period.

The ban is merely a routine “medical suspension” all boxers must face after such a loss and is standard practice.

The loss was Joshua’s fourth in his boxing career.
Joshua had, first, lost to Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2019, before losing to reigning World Champion, Oleksandr Usyk, in 2021, and a rematch in 2022.
While Joshua was knocked out in the fifth round, he was felled three times before, one coming as early as the first round.
The manner in which he lost to Dubois has raised questions marks over Joshua’s ability to compete at the highest level in the sport.
