Ankara Explosion: Car bomb leaves at least 28 dead, 61 injured

Turkey’s capital city, Ankara, is smarting from a large explosion which has left at least 38 people dead and 61 others injured.

The explosion which, reports say, was targeted at military buses happened close to the country’s parliament and military headquarters in the centre of the city.

A statement from the armed forces said a bus carrying military personnel was targeted when it stopped at a set of traffic lights outside army barracks, the Independent reports.

AP quotes the Ankara governor’s office as saying it was a car bomb.

“We are looking into details of the explosion,” Turkey’s Prime Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu said.

The Prime Minister has cancelled a trip to Brussels which he was supposed to embark on, Wednesday evening.

Turkey has been hit by a serious of attacks recently, and there have been increasing concerns that the country could be targeted by another big attack, the BBC reports..
