Angry mob lynches bus conductor for stabbing passenger to death over N100 change
A misunderstanding involving a bus conductor and a passenger over N100 change at Five Star bus stop, near Aswani market in Lagos has led to the death of the two.
The passenger who had insisted on collecting N100 balance from the conductor is said to have been fatally stabbed by the conductor when the issue heated up.
Witnesses report that the conductor threatened to injure the passenger before grabbing a knife from a trader by the roadside with which he used to stab the victim.
The passenger died on the spot after sustaining a deep thrust injury, which prompted the irate mob around the scene to beat the conductor into unconsciousness before they went ahead to set him ablaze.
They also burned the bus conveying the victim as the driver fled the scene.
The rising cost of transportion in Lagos has become a troubling development as commuters languish at the mercy of rickety bus drivers who charge unjustifiable high prices at will.
