Ambode wants TB Joshua, SCOAN prosecuted for criminal neglect; here’s “The Prophet’s” reply
As far as Nigeria’s “Prophet” Temitope Balogun Joshua is concerned, his insistence on the collapse of his church building as being the work of saboteurs is the only truth there is about the issue.
No less than 115 people died when a guest house owned by TB Joshua’s Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) collapsed last September.
Aside the fact that SCOAN never got government approval to add floors to the building, the church contracted the wrong engineers to oversee the project. One of them was a registered petroleum engineer.
The Lagos state government said TB Joshua and his church will be prosecuted for criminal neglect as recently decided by a coroner’s inquest into the tragedy.
TB Joshua said there was nothing wrong with the work his engineers did.
He insists “the truth” is that the tragedy was the work of saboteurs who flew a strange aircraft over the building several times before it imploded.
“Stop fighting the truth because the truth never loses the battle,” SCOAN quoted Joshua as saying on the church’s Facebook page, Saturday evening.
“Only the truth can see you through,” TB Joshua said.
The post was accompanied by a video showing scenes of controlled demolition in Nigeria. TB Joshua insists that was the same thing that happened to the SCOAN guest house in question.
It is the second time, in recent time, Joshua will be defending his church with the help of social media in regard to the building collapse.
While Joshua has absolute right to defend himself and his church, experts also have the responsibility to tell the public what they found in their probe of the tragedy.
Bunmi Ajayi, a town planning expert heavily involved the coroner’s inquest into the tragedy, agrees with the state government that SCOAN and the “fake” engineers that supervised the building upgrade should face the wrath of the law.
Regardless of what the experts say, SCOAN members – some of them survivors of the tragedy – say the authorities are using the incident to persecute their prophet.
