Amaechi Blames Rivers’ Reputation for Election Fraud, Urges 2027 Mobilisation
Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has decried what he described as Rivers State’s notorious reputation for election result manipulation, calling on Nigerians to resist the practice ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Amaechi made the remarks while addressing members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition in Rivers State, where he recently joined as part of a broader political realignment.
“Our state is notorious for writing results, and we must stop them from writing results,” Amaechi said. “When they said that they have already written results, it discourages voters from coming out.”
The former Rivers governor, who resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), also urged citizens to begin early preparations for the 2027 polls by registering with the ADC and mobilising support at the grassroots.
“Most importantly, have your eyes on 2027 and to have your eyes on 2027, please go home and start registration,” he said. “We will form a committee that will go from local government to local government, ward to ward, to ascertain the number of people we have.”
Amaechi warned that Nigeria faces potential collapse if President Bola Tinubu is re-elected in 2027.
“Currently, Nigerians are complaining in President Tinubu’s first tenure; imagine what the second tenure will be like. Then, you’ll be dead and buried,” he said.
“We should encourage people to come out and vote for the removal of the current government or we will all die of hunger,” he added.
