Air Peace aborts Lagos-bound flight over bomb scare
Air Peace Flight P4 7121 enroute to Lagos from Abuja was forced to abandon the trip and return to base due to a bomb scare mid air.
The flight which departed Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja for Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos on Wednesday morning made the call after the crew was informed of an explosive in the plane.
In order to avert any eventualities, the pilot informed the passengers on board about the issue and made a U-turn back to Abuja.
The Corporate Communications Manager of the airline, Chris Iwarah confirmed the incident and commended the pilot for taking the precautionary measure.
“The aircraft landed in Abuja without any incident and passengers disembarked normally to enable security personnel conduct a check,” he said in a statement.
“Passengers on board the flight were screened a second time and the aircraft thoroughly checked. At the end of the exercise, the information was found to be a hoax as nothing was found on the aircraft.”
It was gathered that the passenger who gave out the information was taken into custody by security operatives for investigations.
The flight was cleared and rescheduled for 11:40am today.
