Tech and Media Powerhouses Take Centre Stage

Iyin Aboyeji, Founding Partner of Future Africa and co-founder of tech unicorns Flutterwave and Andela, will lead discussions on “Africa’s Role in the Future of Technology, Media, AI & Finance.” Aboyeji has been instrumental in catalysing Africa’s tech startup economy and will share insights on how the continent’s tech ecosystem is shaping global influence.

Joining him on the panel will be Ayeni Adekunle, Founder and CEO of BHM, who has been redefining modern public relations and brand storytelling across Africa’s creative industries. Also participating is Kayode Akintemi, Managing Director of News Central TV, who has built one of Africa’s fastest-growing pan-African news platforms.

The panel session will be moderated by Wendu Nwakanma, Vice President and Northeast Regional Business Development Lead at Goldman Sachs, bringing Wall Street expertise to discussions about Africa’s tech future.

Adding academic gravitas to the discussions, Sonny Irosche, Senior Academic Advisor at Oxford University’s African Studies Centre and AI for Business at Said Business School, will provide strategic insights on artificial intelligence adoption and governance across Africa.

Irosche’s participation reflects the growing importance of AI in Africa’s development agenda, particularly as the continent seeks to leapfrog traditional development challenges through technological innovation.

The event will also spotlight youth empowerment through a panel titled “Generation Potential — Powering Africa’s Youth Through Nutrition, Skills, Access & Opportunity.

Leading voices in this crucial area include Wawira Njiru, Founder and CEO of Food4Education, who delivers over 500,000 daily subsidised school meals in Kenya while building local supply chains and creating youth employment opportunities.

Geoffrey Kasangaki, CEO of Asante Africa Foundation, will share insights from his organisation’s work equipping more than 800,000 rural youth with life skills, leadership training, and job readiness programs. Abeiku Greene, Outgoing Executive Director of Junior Achievement Ghana, brings experience from preparing over 200,000 youth for future employment through financial literacy and entrepreneurship education.

Ben Ovio, Chief Responsibility Executive at ENDIP International, rounds out the panel with his work advancing education, youth enterprise development, and technical vocational skills training across West and East Africa.

The event will feature the launch of the Second Edition of the Africa Business Cultural Intelligence Report, offering actionable insights for global and pan-African businesses operating in five high-potential economies: Ghana, Rwanda, Egypt, Angola, and Côte d’Ivoire.

This report is expected to provide crucial market intelligence for international investors and businesses seeking to navigate Africa’s diverse economic landscape more effectively.

The breakfast conversations represent a growing trend of using UNGA week to facilitate direct dialogue between African leaders and global investors, development partners, and multinational corporations.

Aig-Imoukhuede’s participation is particularly significant given his role in transforming Nigeria’s banking sector and his current position overseeing major financial institutions across the continent. His insights on unlocking Africa’s youth as an “investment engine” could influence how global capital approaches the continent’s demographic dividend.

Africa Breakfast Conversations: A Global Platform for African Voices

The Africa Breakfast Conversations, launched in 2024, has quickly established itself as a premier platform for fostering meaningful dialogue between African innovators, global investors, and development leaders during the UN General Assembly week.

The event’s timing during UNGA allows African leaders to engage directly with international counterparts while the global development community is concentrated in New York, maximising opportunities for partnership and investment commitments.

As Africa continues to attract international attention for its growth potential, events like these provide crucial platforms for the continent’s leaders to shape global narratives about African development and investment opportunities.

The second edition promises to build on the success of the inaugural gathering, with an enhanced focus on practical partnerships and actionable outcomes that can drive sustainable development across the continent.
