Abuja: Panic in Presidential Villa as careless security operative’s gun fires bullets, injures two

A careless handling of firearm by an unidentified security operative inside the Presidential Villa has left himself and another person injured.

The security operative’s cocked gun reportedly fired bullets into one Mrs Glady’s Okpa’s thigh and part of her back. Mrs Okpa is a staff of the State House.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 12 pm Wednesday, with several ministers in attendance for the first meeting of Federal Executive Council for the year.

The operative was said to be following security routine as he was asked to drop arms in his possession. His attempt to drop his already cocked gun triggered the shot which injured him in his hand and also hit Mrs Okpa.

He was said to have belonged to the Department of state services (DSS), though there was uncertainty if he was attached to the Villa or to a minister.
