Governor Dapo Abiodun Calls Protesters “Sore Losers” as Nationwide Protests Continue

Ogun State's Governor, Dapo Abiodun

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has labeled the protesters of the ongoing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests as “sore losers.” Speaking on Channels Television on Thursday, August 1, 2024, Abiodun accused the protesters of attempting to damage President Bola Tinubu’s administration due to their dissatisfaction with the 2023 presidential election results, which made Tinubu the president.

Abiodun argued that the protests were driven by individuals dissatisfied with the election outcome, alleging that these disgruntled factions were seeking to remove President Tinubu from office. “The majority of Nigerians voted for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He majorly won the election and that says one thing; those who wanted him to be president were far more than those who didn’t. The problem we have today is that Nigerians are sore losers. Rather than accept the fact that you want a regime change and wait till 2027, don’t begin to sponsor faceless, leaderless protests under the guise that you’re dissatisfied,” Abiodun revealed

The Ogun state Governor also addressed the economic challenges facing the country. Pointing out that they are not unique to Nigeria “the current realities is not peculiar to Nigeria alone. There was protest in Ghana and London. The solution to headache is not to cut off the head,” he said while urging youths to continue to dialogue with the government.
