1. If we rate player according to the mojo they bring to the game, Messi cannot ace Ronaldinho and Jay Jay Okocha. He cannot even come close to Ronaldo De Lima or Zinedine Zidane. No way.
2. If we rate players by the number of FIFA World Cup trophies, Messi would be in the same category with Yakubu Aiyegbeni of Nigeria who has never won one.
3. If we rate players based on nations cup like trophies, Messi should be doing “yes, boss” to Cristiano Ronaldo.
4. If we rate players based on the number of goals scored, here’s how Messi would rank:

- Josef Bican – 805 goals
- Romario – 743 goals

Based on these facts, rating Messi above others players mentioned here is tantamount to overrating Messi.
Messi is great. Sure. But is he the greatest? His he better than Ronaldo?
Wow, Messi is 29 and has many games left to play. He creates more dangerous chances than anyone in the game today. No he is not over-rated. Quite the opposite when you look at the cherry picked reasons presented here. Messi led his national team to world cup final and multiple copa finals only to lose in finals which is decided in one game. Certainly some luck plays a factor and how your teammates play in these one match finals. Ronaldo won Euro but was not the man of the tournament like Messi in world cup and Copa’s. Why anyone would say he doesn’t bring Mojo to the game is a not a true fan of the beautiful game.
