2019 Elections: Buhari refuses to give assent to Electoral Act amendment bill
March 13, 2018
President Buhari has refused to give assent to the controversial Electoral Act amendment bill.
The bill, which was passed by both chambers of the National Assembly, seeks to change the country’s elections sequence.
Buhari said in a letter read by President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, at the plenary today, that the amendments would be in conflict with the constitutional laws.
It is the second bill Buhari would be rejecting in as many weeks, as the president has also refused to give assent to the Peace Corps bill.
