Zimbabwean woman bags 3 years jail term for dumping sick child
A Zimbabwean woman, Vanessa Thabisile, 21, has been sentenced to 3 years in jail for dumping her five-month-old baby outside her brother’s house and absconding.
Thabisile dumped her baby on the doorstep of her brother, Tarven Ncube’s house last Wednesday and vanished into thin air, until the police found her having a good time at a sports club, four days later.
iHarare reports that she pleaded guilty to neglecting a child when she appeared before Western Commonage Magistrate, Ms Tancy Dube. She told the court that she dumped the child out of desperation.
“My child fell sick and I did not know what to do with her,” she said.
Dube convicted her and sentenced her to 36 months in prison.
