Zimbabwe: Mother ignores as boy, 21, allegedly rapes sister, 16, repeatedly
A 21-year-old Zimbabwean man has landed in trouble for allegedly raping his 16-year-old sister.
According to a report by Herald, the suspect had raped his sister severally before he was caught.
The girl had reportedly told their mother about her brother’s act, but the mother swept the matter under the carpet.
The accused was arraigned before a Magistrate court on three counts of rape on Tuesday.
Prosecuting, Mr Sebastian Mutizirwa alleged that in December 2016, at around 6pm, the complainant was watching television in the sitting room when her brother came in.
He was said to have inserted a pornographic disc before proceeding to fondle his sister’s breasts.
His actions was reportedly met with a resistance, but he overpowered her. He allegedly pushed her to the floor and raped her.
Mutizirwa reportedly told the court that the girl reported the incident to the family pastor, who advised her to tell their mother.
The mother, however, reportedly remained silent about the issue.
It was further alleged that sometime this year, the accused got into his sister’s bedroom and crawled into her blankets while she was asleep, before raping her.
He would repeat the act the following week, prompting the girl to run out of the house to find succour with a friend.
The friend’s mother reported the matter to the police the following morning leading to the arrest of the accused.
The accused was reportedly remanded in custody till May 24 for further hearing.
