ZAMFARA: 104 rustlers killed, 500 cows recovered in police raid
Security operatives under the auspices of the Police Joint Operation Team have reportedly conducted an operation that killed 104 rustlers and destroyed their 50 camps at Birnin Mogaji Village in Zurmi area of Zamfara state.
When the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris got information of an attack by a group of bandits, he had dispatched the DIG, Department of Operations, Joshiak Habila to lead an operation to repel the attack.
“At about 1600hrs on November 29th, the Police Joint Operation Team repelled ambush attacks from bandits at Birnin Mogaji Village, Zurmi LGA of Zamfara State and in the process killed 104 bandits and destroyed over 50 bandit hideouts in three camps,” the police spokesperson, acting DCP Moshood Jimoh revealed.
The operation was carried out by a joint team of Special Forces personnel, Counter-Terrorism Units, Police Mobile Force, Special Anti-Robbery Squads and three surveillance helicopters.
It was disclosed that the police lost only one personnel during the attack as they went on to recover 500 cattles and 79 sheep.
“The Police team has restored normalcy and peace in the affected areas,” Habila said.
