Younger brother shoots, kills Ohio pastor in church
The choir was still singing when the suspect walked up to the pastor and shot him twice sending parishioners on their heels.
The pastor was 70-year-old William Schooler. The church, St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio.
His brother, Daniel Gregory Schooler, 68, believed to have shot the pastor, was arrested at the scene and taken to the Montgomery County jail.
The gunman sat down during prayers at the church, then went to the pastor’s office afterward, church member Alberta Blayth told WHIO.
“It wasn’t a minute and I heard two shots, and…I just got everybody out of the church,” she said. “And we just kept hearing shooting, shooting. Bang, bang, bang.”
Police say the pastor “was the intended and only target” in the shooting.
