WWE SummerSlam: Randy Orton vs Drew McIntyre showdown to air on DStv

SuperSport viewers on DStv can look forward to another pay-per-view special from the WWE, with SummerSlam live on the morning of Monday 24 August 2020, as well as the latest episodes of NXT, SmackDown and Raw.

SummerSlam is the second biggest pay-per-view event of the year for the WWE, behind only WrestleMania, and is set to be headlined by a showdown between ‘The Viper’ Randy Orton and WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. “I am more valuable to this company than you ever were… or ever will be. I am the chosen one – then, now and forever,” said Orton in taunting McIntyre, with the pair’s rivalry growing in intensity over recent weeks.\

In response, the ‘Scottish Psychopath’ vowed to end Orton’s reign of terror: “I don’t see a leader standing before me. I don’t see someone the boys in the back respect. I see a selfish *****. “Here’s what’s gonna happen at SummerSlam, Randy. I have a whole bunch of receipts to cash in. A bunch of receipts from me, from a bunch of the guys on the current roster, some are from former superstars, every legend you have kicked in the damned head.

“Randy, at SummerSlam I am gonna rip off your head, and I promise you, Randy, I swear to you… you’re sure as hell gonna see it coming!”

Other titles on the line include the WWE United States Championship, with Apollo Crews defending against MVP (though he will surely be outnumbered, with the latter backed up by Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin in their new faction, ‘The Hurt Business’), while ‘The Golden Role Models’ of Bayley and Sasha Banks will also defend their WWE SmackDown and Raw Women’s titles against Asuka – who has earned her way into two title matches!

The WWE Raw Tag Team Championship will also be on the line, with the Street Profits set to take on the sly pairing of Andrade and Angel Garza – who have the canny Zelina Vega always scheming in the background! – while Braun Strowman defends his Universal Championship against ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt.

SummerSlam will be preceded by Episode 576 of WWE NXT on the morning of Thursday 20 August, while Episode 1096 of WWE SmackDown on Saturday morning features a match for the Intercontinental title between belt holder AJ Styles and the legend Matt Hardy.

“I respect you and everything you have accomplished,” said Hardy to Styles. “But that title means a lot to me. It’s the first title I won on my own in WWE. I didn’t get a fair shot at it when Sheamus ruined my chances in the elimination tournament.”

The morning of Tuesday 25 August then features Episode 1422 of WWE Raw, which will begin the build-up to the next pay-per-view, Payback, which is just a week away!

No rival can compete with SuperSport’s  coverage. Our viewers on DStv have found their #HomeOfSport.
