Woman “steals eight months old baby” in Abuja
One Theresa Obonna was dragged before a Karmo Grade I Area Court in Abuja on Thursday for allegedly stealing an eight-month-old baby.
The prosecutor, Zannah Dalhatu, told the court that one Godstime David, who resides in Akwa-Ibom, reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station, Abuja, on March 2.
Dalhatu said Godstime alleged that in January 2017, her lover impregnated her and asked her to abort it but she refused and relocated to Abuja.
Godstime said that she stayed with Theresa and after giving birth, she seized the baby and moved to an unknown destination.
Mr Dalhatu said during police investigation, the baby was recovered from Theresa.
Theresa said she was not guilty of the charges.
The judge, Abubakar Sadiq, ordered that she be remanded in prison and adjourned the case till May 3 for hearing.
