Woman, 49, jailed for 9 years in Benin for human trafficking

A 49-year old woman identified as Christy Ehirobo, has been sentenced to nine years in imprisonment for human trafficking by a Federal High Court in Benin.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the convict, from Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo, was convicted for taking a Secondary school dropout of Baptist college in Benin to Greece.
She was also convicted for arranging foreign documents that gave rise to prostitution.
Judge Mohammed Liman said justice must prevail and all human traffickers must have their day of justice.
He also added that Ehirobo will serve the jail term concurrently.
“The accused is therefore sentenced to three years imprisonment on each of the three counts to run concurrently,” Liman said.
