Woman, 30, sells newborn for N350,000 to fund other children’s education
March 2, 2018
A 30-year-old woman, Rosemary Okafor, has confessed to selling one of her 4 children – a newborn – to another woman simply identified as Madam Pink at the cost of N350,000.
Okafor confirmed to operatives of The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) that “she sold the baby to be able to train the other three in school.”
She blamed poverty for her predicament.
In a similar development, the agency, in a combined operation, arrested 8 women and 3 men for belonging to a criminal syndicate that specialized in kidnapping and sale of babies across the country.
All suspects were arrested in different parts of Anambra state.
