Sunday Ibie was most likely in jubilant mood on New Year’s Day.

The occasion not only called for a bottle of wine, but also for the flesh of a chicken. Ibie’s decision to realise the later has landed him in hospital.

Mama Ekene is a trader at Konwea Plaza in Asaba, Delta State. Last Yultide, she decided to sell broilers to her customers.

One big and “wicked” chicken like that was among the winged creatures she put up for sale on Friday, January 1, 2016. And it was that particular chicken Ibie went for.

It must have been very big. But it was also “evil,” it later appeared.

Buyer and seller agreed the chicken was good for N3,000. Ibie was about tying the chicken’s leg and taking it away when the broiler decided it would rather live to die another day.

Are we gradually moving into the era of the dreaded Chicken Revolution?
Are we gradually moving into the era of the dreaded Chicken Revolution? This one happened on January 1, not a week before.

“I am shocked too because when I brought out the boiler I did not know it was mysterious, only to strike the man right inside his eyes and he fell down and I raised the alarm for help,” Mama Ekenne told local media.

That’s what was reported to have happened.

The chicken flapped its wings in protest against its sale, pounced on Ibie and gave him one peck in the eye.

But some later came around and rushed Ibie to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Asaba.

We don’t know if he’s been discharged.

We also don’t know what has become of the “wicked” chicken..
