Why You Should Not Miss 2023 US Grand Prix This Weekend

Max Verstappen, Formula 1

Get ready for another heart-racing weekend as the United States Grand Prix unfolds, and you can enjoy every thrilling second of the race on DStv SuperSport. The 2023 US GP marks Formula 1’s return to the iconic Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, where it first appeared in 2012. COTA has since become one of the most renowned tracks in the sport.

In 2022, the COTA witnessed an intense battle, with Max Verstappen overcoming a challenging pit stop to pass Lewis Hamilton and secure his 13th win of the season. This win was instrumental in Red Bull Racing’s first Constructors’ title since 2013. Max Verstappen, who clinched his latest F1 win in Qatar, aims to continue his record-setting season with more victories at COTA, where he triumphed in 2021 and 2022. However, his teammate Perez’s season took a downturn after his second-place finish in the Miami Grand Prix. All eyes will be on him to see if redemption comes this Sunday. The spotlight is also on Daniel Ricciardo, who is returning from injury at the 2023 F1 US Grand Prix. His future at Red Bull depends on his performance in the next five races.

The American racing team, Haas, is also in the spotlight due to reports about a crucial upgrade package expected to align their 2023 car concept more closely with Red Bull. Similar transformations at McLaren during the Austrian Grand Prix turned them from backmarkers into consistent podium contenders. While a strong showing by the American team at their home race would be surprising, there is hope for their season trajectory as they approach the end of the season.

The US Grand Prix will captivate audiences from October 20th to October 22nd, featuring a lineup of exciting sessions spanning three action-packed days. On Friday, October 20th, practice is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., followed by the qualifying race at 4 p.m. Saturday showcases two Sprint Shootouts at 12:30 and 5 p.m., leading up to the Grand Prix main event on Sunday at 2 p.m.
