“We’re sorry sir” – Like well-mannered children, LAUTECH students reportedly apologise to Governor Ajimobi
Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) student leaders have reportedly apologised to Oyo State’s “Constituted Authority”, Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
The students have been home since June 2016 because of striking lecturers. The lecturers downed tools over long salary delays.
“Even is I don’t pay salaries, I remain the Constituted Authority (for Oyo State,” Ajimobi told students after accusing them of not showing enough respect.
“Some of you should learn how to show respect for constituted authority,” he said after students were apparently unruly while the governor addressed them on why their school had been shut.
“How long have you been home? Is this the first time we’d be shutting a school?,” he asked. He then promised to ensure the school reopened before the end of January.

A woman rumoured to be Ajimobi’s daughter also took to Instagram calling the students “mannerless children”.
Many Nigerians said they found the governor’s comments inconsiderate. They said he didn’t show enough respect for students who had been off school for eight months.
Reports say students leaders have gone to apologise to the governor.
“I can’t believe they went to beg the governor,” a student who doesn’t want to be named said. “I am shocked.”
“Beg for what? That we asked questions why our school was shut for so long? Why the authorities won’t pay our striking lecturers? I am shocked.”
